Following in your foot steps....
Hi Landon and Mason,
Oh how we love reading your emails each week! We love hearing about everything, the little things about your country, your day to day routines, how you are feeling and your missionary and spiritual experiences. Thank you for sharing your mission with us, we feel apart of it, even though we are far away. Others have commented to me, how much they love reading your letters too!
This week I have felt so grateful for the example you have set in our family! Your influence in our family is strongly felt, and I am grateful for what wonderful boys and young men you have been your whole life!!!
So this week I decided to write a few things that we feel your influence in:
-Gracie is enjoying a fun playgroup now that school is in. Every Wednesday, the moms switch who's house it is at. The one mom watches the kids, while the others get a break. This past week it was my turn to watch the kids. The kids that come are: Liv Parrington, Conley Wing, and Avery Jones. Gracie is the oldest and the most talkative. She LOVES play group and gets so excited. There are many things about her that remind me of the two of you when you were this age. The main one being how talkative she is and that she is bright! She knows most of her letters now!
A few other things are that she is drinking your share of the milk now, she wants in non stop.
She also loves berries. She loves to sit in the raspberry patch and eat and eat......
Swinging and feeding the chickens corn on the cob.
-Another is Lydia is running Xcountry and LOVING it! She had her first meet last Friday and did pretty well for her first race. Going to her meet on Friday sure reminded us of all your meets in Jr High and High School.
The last few years in Jr High have been hard for Lydia with friends. 9th grade has started off well and Lydia has made better friends with two of your friends siblings. Lizzy Blonquist and Heather Ells (Alison's sister). She eats lunch with them, runs Xcountry with them and sings in choir with them. They are all so proud of their older siblings and they want to be just like you!
Gracie loves to cheer for Lydia and all the runners. It's funny she claps and claps and yells "Good Job"

-Last weekend we tried German food this week Chilean Food!!
There is a little restaurant in Orem that makes Chilean food. The owner is from Chile and he was actually Orsorno's mission president in the 80's. You could tell all the Chilean people in Utah County know about it and love it. We sure had a fun time eating and enjoying the food that Landon eats. And we know why you are loving the food. It's was very good. We love the cheese empanadas, all we could think was these things were made for Landon. Cheese and bread!!!
We sure loved enjoying a little bit of Chile here in Utah.
You'll have fun taking Mason to this restaurant one day.
Chilean Desserts! Pastries filled with a caramel feeling.
-Dad and I went to the temple on Saturday night. It has gotten harder to get to the temple with less sitters now. So we haven't gone as much as we have wanted to, but we are determined to get there at least once a month if not more. The last time we did an endowment in the City Center temple was when you took out your endowments. Your example of temple attendance has left an imprint on our hearts!
-Other big news is that Jacob made the Student Council at the Elementary. It was a little bit of tough competition. No voting is involved just teacher recommendations and writing short essays to questions about leadership. Jacob did well on his essays and also got great recommendations from his teacher and past teachers. Jacob is very excited! Reminds me of you guys run for student council in WA.
Today was a regional broadcast. Elder Stevenson spoke. He gave a great talk! I loved his analogy of driving in a HOV lane. Once he was sitting in traffic and looked over and saw the HOV lane traveling smoothly and he thought how he wished he was over there. He then changed the HOV (high occupancy vehicle) to Humility, Obedience, and Virtue. "That when we live those three words we travel through life much more smoothly." I loved the simplicity of that analogy! He also shared the following quote by President Howard W. Hunter.
"This year mend a quarrel
Seek out a forgotten friend
Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust
Write a letter
Give a soft answer
Encourage youth
Manifest your loyalty in word and deed
Keep a promise
Forgo a grudge
Forgive an enemy
Apologize
Try to understand
Examine your demands on others
Think first of someone else
Be kind
Be gentle
Laugh a little more
Express your gratitude
Welcome a stranger
Gladden the heart of a child
Take pleasure in the beauty of the earth
Speak your love, then speak it again"

We sure love both of you! We think about you all the time and are grateful for the example you have set for us in your life and the example you continue to set for us as you serve a full time mission.
Lots of love!
