Life lessons!

Hello Landon and Mason!

Hope you are doing well at the beginning of this new transfer!

We have been pretty low key here at home.  It's still winter here so we are mostly indoors but do get out a few times a week for a run.

Jacob has his last week of basketball.  Below is a picture of him playing with his parks and rec team.  It's been good for him to have lots of experience playing this season but he can't say that he has enjoyed playing on this team (he much prefers his Bantam team).  The other day he got into the car and said "Every team we play, I wish I was on that team and not mine".   It's not that they don't win games, cause they have won at least 1/2 their games.  But it's mainly because there is this one player.  He can handle the ball well, make some of his shots but he is loud, not a good sport, a ball hog, and kind of mean to the players on his team.  As a parent it can be hard to watch this happen and the coaches do not do much about it.  As I tried to encourage Jacob on how to deal with the situation he has been dealt I was reminded of how these kind of situations help us learn and grow.  It's not the easiest lesson to learn but makes us grow stronger.  Jacob has handled it like a champ.  He can hold his own out there and is pretty kind and considerate of all the players and that is the true champion!

On the flip side Jacob had a Valentine this year.  He did not want a valentine, but a girl asked him to be his valentine.  His teacher said that everyone needed to give the same thing to each person in his class this year for valentines day.  Jacob did not want to give her anything, because he didn't want to break that rule and he didn't really want a valentine.  But on Valentines Day, look what this girl gave to Jacob secretly.  A very big gift of some of his favorite things.   Ah, he was kind of embarrassed since he didn't give her anything.   He wrote her a thank you note and gave her a candy bar the next day.  Such a predicament!

On Sunday we went up to the Findlays for Jack's 16th birthday!  It was fun to be with everyone.  You can't tell a lot from this picture but Jack's hair is getting curly!

Gracie loved eating some cheesecake!

It was President's Day today. We decided to just stay home and get a few things done around the house.  Dad did some work on the jeep.   He's been driving it to church every Sunday, and he could tell it needed new brakes.

Not a lot of pictures this week. So I am throwing in our passport pictures that we also took recently!
