Staying on Track!

Hi Elders!

It was a much quieter week this week than last.  Lydia had a track meet on Friday.  She ran the hurtles and did well.  She usually runs a relay but others on her team had to leave early.  We've talked her into running the mile next meet, she said she would do it she is just not too excited about it.

Jacob is gearing up for his once a year track meet with the school that is next week.  He wants to do as well as he can so we went over on Saturday and practiced.  He wants to practice a few more times before Wednesday to be more prepared.   I'll let you know how it goes next week.

It was perfect weather on Saturday.  We did a lot of yard work getting ready for the summer.  Dad really loves working in the yard.  He misses having his two best workers with him but he works hard and gets it all done just takes him longer.

I realized I probably haven't sent you a picture of our solar panels yet.  Here is a picture of what the back of the house looks like.  We are pleased at how they turned out.  Sometimes solar panels can look like an eye sore, but these fit nicely and are dark to blend in better.   We are now enjoying a lower energy bill which is so great!   (Ignore the towels on the deck, we cleaned the deck and use them to dry).

Gracie is in to picking flowers (well....dandelions).  She is so proud of herself.  It's good though because we have a few in our yard so she cleans it free until the fertilizer does the job.
Also she loves to dress up now.  Here she is in a Belle costume!

So to go along with my subject line of "staying on track" and a few of our pictures this week of Lydia and Jacob at the MMHS track.  Here is a quote from Elder Uchtdorf.  This comes from an Ensign article from a couple years ago.  He shares how we can't control things what happen around us (the storms of life) but those challenges can overwhelm us and become our focus instead of what our focus should be.  And that is keeping faith, being prayerful, coming unto Christ, not becoming distracted and holding to the "rod" by obedience to our covenants.  As we keep the focus just like when we run a race and we stay in our path we will eventually get through the challenge and overcome the trial.

"Just as an experienced pilot keeps his focus not on the storm but on the center of the runway and the correct touchdown point, so too should we keep our focus on the center of our faith—our Savior, His gospel, and the plan of our Heavenly Father—and on our ultimate goal—to return safely to our heavenly destination. We should trust God and make staying on the track of discipleship the focus of our efforts. We should keep our eyes, heart, and mind focused on living the way we know we should."  Elder Uchtdorf
Love you both very much!  Have a great week!
